While I'm redesigning this site to be more of a store/portfolio, I've gone ahead and started a news blog that will eventually feed into my new site. Check it out for news and updates about the many projects I'm working on: caseyburnsart.blogspot.com
I also have a page at MySpace.com. Feel free to visit some of my more recent work there, and feel like you somehow met me inside a computer: myspace.com/caseyburns.

STEEL POLE BATH TUB POSTER
I got the chance to do a poster for Steel Pole Bath Tub's 2008 reunion show (which I also instigated the booking of). For those not familiar with the band, they put out several records in the 80s and 90s, and toured like madmen with bands like Nirvana, Melvins, Poster Children, and everyone else under the sun. Bassist Dale Flattum later played in The Nein with yours truly, when we both lived in NC. Also on the bill: Red Fang, Iommi Stubbs, Thrones, Hungry Ghost. Poster is 18"X24", screenprinted in an edition of 110. $20 plus $8 shipping in the US.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE POSTER
This one was a collaboration with Justin Hampton. I laid everything out, with some direction from Justin, and finished the figure on the left, all the lettering, and half the skull. Justin did the girl on the left and all the coloring. Poster is screenprinted in edition of 150 and measures 18"x26". Justin is sold out of his half of the run, and my stash is about to run out as well. $50 plus $8 shipping in the US.

Also on Thursday, November 6, visit Portland's City Hall from 5 to 7 pm for "Music Matters", highlighting artists who document the local music scene. http://www.commissionersam.com/musicmatters

NEW TANGIBLES
Somebody just told me that the work I did on Modest Mouse's album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank is featured in the Communication Arts 2008 Design Annual. I haven't seen it yet, so if anyone has scans they want to email me, that would rule.
I did the back cover for the latest issue of I Want Your Skull. Pick it up now.
The fifth volume of Failing Records' compilation of Portland music is also due in stores soon, and sports cover art by me.
Portland FunBook 3 is bigger and better than ever and has a giant full-page drawing I did of Matt Brown inside ...
Look for my work in the pages of Fistful of Rock coming from Dark Horse, The Gigposters.com Coloring Book, and two more books about contemporary poster art in the next twelve months.
I'm also excited to be working on the packaging of the debut record from North Carolina's The Love Language. Portland's own Bladen County Records is releasing it in January 2009, and it is hands down the best pop record I have heard in years.
I recently did posters for Steel Pole Bath Tub and Queens of the Stone Age. Write me if you'd like to buy them, because my webstore isn't ready yet.
GALLERY SHOWS
I've currently got screenprints hanging at Gold Dust Meridian in Portland. Go see them and buy them while you can.
WEBSTORE coming soon! Finally have my inventory in order, and will be redesigning caseyburns.com soon, with click and purchase action for all you impulse purchasers out there. Prices will range from $10 to $1100, so there's something for everyone.
***UNC LIBRARY EXHIBIT JUST ENDED!*** PAPER TRAIL: THE POSTER ART OF CASEY BURNS AND RON LIBERTI
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, March 17 - July 1, 2008
5:00 pm: Reception and Exhibit, Manuscripts Department, 4th Floor, Wilson Library
5:45 pm: Program, Pleasants Family Assembly Room (panel discussion with Casey Burns, Ron Liberti, and Frank Heath, followed by live music by Lud, Regina Hexaphone, and Billy Sugarfix)
Many thanks to all who made this event a huge success ... UNC, friends of the library, and the Southern Folklife Collection. The record turnout of the Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and UNC academic and arts communities all under one roof made for one hell of an event. Here's a link to a great full-page feature the Chapel Hill News ran on the event: Paper Covers Rock.
More coverage of the show appeared in the Independent Weekly
and the News and Observer, which featured the show in both its "Rock Picks" and "Art Picks" sections. Thanks everybody!

UNC alumni: Check out this month's issue of the Carolina Alumni Review for a cover by me (depicting the entrance to my old workplace, Cat's Cradle), and a feature on yours truly with several pages of my posters:
"The Art of Music by Kathleen Kearns:
Full-time job for artist at nightclub: Casey Burns '98 couldn't have dreamed any better than that. Like the musicians he draws, the Cradle was his springboard to the big time."
